Explore the wonders of the world of Harry Potter in this magical 9 day tour that takes you across both Britain and Scotland visitng key location that featured in the famous films and novels.

Day 1: 

  • Arrive into London and greeted by one of our chauffeur guides for the transfer to London
  • Check into a Two Bedroom Suite at 51 Buckingham Gate
  • Afternoon at leisure depending on arrival time into London Heathrow
  • Relaxed dinner in a local restaurant
  • Overnight at 51 Buckingham Gate

Day 2:

  • A day to explore London with or without a guide at your side
  • Take an open top bus ride to explore the main sites or perhaps take to the River Thames for a tour or simple boat ride
  • Visit Covent Garden for lunch and explore the old market shops
  • This afternoon or early evening you can take a ride on the London eye for great panoramic views of the city
  • Overnight at 51 Buckingham Gate

Day 3:

  • Greeted by your driver guide or driver & separate guide for a days sightseeing in London
  • Explore some of the Harry Potter sites in London as listed below:

In ‘The Order of the Phoenix’ Westminster Tube Station was used for the Ministry of Magic. See one of London’s famous red telephone boxes where Harry and Mr Weasley descend into the Ministry. Aerial views of Big Ben/the River & Parliament Square are seen on Harry’s arrival in London. Harry and Hagrid are also seen walking through London’s Leadenhall Market as they approach the Leaky Cauldron, set in Charing Cross in JK Rowling’s books. Scenes of Gringotts, the Wizards Bank run by goblins were filmed in the marble expanse of Australia House on the Strand – however it was filmed in a secure area not open to the public (apart from a once-a-year open day). The Knight Bus scenes in ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ were filmed in Borough Market and Blackfriars Bridge.

  • Visit the traditional London sights as well with your guide including Westminster Abbey – location of the Royal Wedding to be held on the 29th April this year
  • Dinner at a local restaurant and Overnight at 51 Buckingham Gate

Day4:

  • Check-out of 51 Buckingham Gate this morning and your driver guide will take you out of London and to the city of Gloucester for some sightseeing (c.2.5hr drive)

Gloucester’s historic cathedral cloisters were transformed into the corridors of Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the films of JK Rowling’s first two books – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

  • Depart Gloucester in the afternoon and drive onto Oxford (c.1hr drive)
  • On arrival in Oxford you take a private boat ride on the river with afternoon tea
  • Onto the Malmaison Hotel in Oxford, an amazing converted prison, and check into connecting Superior Rooms
  • Dinner & Overnight in Oxford

Day 5:

  • Greeted by your guide and you’ll be taken on a tour of Oxford with visits to Christ Church College and the Pitt Rivers Museum at the University of Oxford where they display ‘shrunken heads’ as featured in Harry Potter!

The Great Hall at Christ Church College is used as a double for Hogwarts School. Oxford’s largest college, re-founded by Henry VIII in 1546, is the only college in the world with a cathedral within its walls. Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) also used Christ Church as inspiration for his story ‘Alices adventures in Wonderland’. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of Christ Church with one of the University Policemen know as Bulldogs. (subject to availability)

  • Depart Oxford in the afternoon and return with your chauffeur guide to your hotel in the centre of London (c.1.5 hr drive)
  • Check into 51 Buckingham Gate for one night
  • Dinner at a local restaurant or perhaps take in a West End show like the Wizard of Oz….
  • Overnight at 51 Buckingham Gate

Day 6:

  • Check-out of 51 Buckingham Gate after breakfast
  • Transfer to London Kings Cross to catch the east coast line train to Edinburgh (boarding assistance available if required) and time for some more Harry Potter sightseeing!

King’s Cross station provided the film’s magical Platform 9 ¾ and has starred in most of the Harry Potter films. Visit the actual platform where the scenes were filmed and the site for the dramatic encounter between Voldermort and Harry in ‘The Order of the Phoenix’. Stop for a photo shoot at the trolley which has been installed ‘disappearing’ into a wall. Also see the clock tower into which Harry and Ron almost collide when attempting to fly the Ford Anglia to Hogwarts.

  • Greeted on arrival at Edinburgh Waverly Station and a short transfer to The Balmoral Hotel (5-star) or The Hotel du Vin (4-star)
  • Check into your connection rooms and take a stroll around the city this afternoon
  • Dinner at one of the many local restaurants
  • Overnight at The Balmoral Hotel or Hotel du Vin

Day 7:

  • A day to explore Edinburgh with or without a guide at your side
  • Walk around the Edinburgh Old Town and perhaps take an open top bus tour of the city
  • Visit Mary King’s Close and explore the hidden underground streets from the 17th Century
  • Enjoy some shopping on George Street in the afternoon
  • Dinner & overnight at your hotel

Day 8: 

  • You’ll be greeted this morning by your expert guide for the day
  • Visit Edinburgh Castle & The Royal Yacht Britannia – our guide will be totally flexible across the day and will offer many options from which you can choose your favourites
  • Return to your hotel at the end of the day
  • Perhaps visit one of the cinemas of theatres in Edinburgh this evening
  • Overnight at your hotel

Day 9:

  • Today you could explore more of Edinburgh or perhaps take a train ride to the seaside town of North Berwick and take a boat ride out around Bass Rock from the harbour
  • Other alternatives include a visit to the ruined Tantallan Castle or perhaps a ride in a fast RIB boat along the Firth of Forth
  • Transfer to Edinburgh Airport for an early evening flight to London Heathrow
  • On arrival at Heathrow check into (Hotel TBC)
