Japan Eases Entry Restrictions

The Japanese government has announced that from the 7th of September 2022, they will ease entry restrictions for travellers with its new coronavirus countermeasures. The following changes will be implemented:

  • The daily cap on arrivals into the country will increase from 20,000 pax up to 50,000 per day.
  • Visitors from all countries will be allowed to enter the country as long as their itineraries have been booked through a travel agency
  • Pre-departure PCR tests will no longer be required for triple-vaccinated travellers from Australia and New Zealand.
  • Tourists who are entering on package tours, including non-guided package tours, from all countries/regions will be accepted.
*Please note that a receiving organisation is still necessary to visit Japan, as is a visa, for which an ERFS certificate is still required.

Travellers departing from Australia and New Zealand automatically fall under the ‘Blue’ group. They are not required to take a PCR test or quarantine on arrival, regardless of vaccination status. Please be aware that all travellers will need to apply for a visa.
