Macon is a small city in central France. It is part of the Saone-et-Loire department, in the region of Bourgogne, and the capital of the Maconnais district. The city is located on the western bank of the Saone river, between Bresse in the East and the Beaujolais hills in the South. Macon is known as the southernmost city in the region of Burgundy. It is located around 65 kilometres north of Lyon and 400 kilometres from Paris.
Within Macon, you will find the town’s shopping area. Most shops are located near the Town Hall – which is also the historical centre of the town. Most monuments are located in that area such as the Cathedral of Saint-Vincent and the Church Saint Pierre, which are the town’s two iconic museums.
