Hub of extremities, Dubai, has opened yet another landmark, this time in the form of the largest indoor theme park in the world. Unprecedented in size and offering, the IMG Worlds of Adventure is the first international mega-themed park to open in Dubai.
The attraction covers 1.5 million square feet (equivalent to 28 football fields) and features international brands Marvel and Cartoon Network – the first ever global theme park to do so. It also boasts its own brands, IMG Boulevard and Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure.
Costing $1 billion US dollars to build over three years, the park is now in full swing, opening its doors for the first time on August 31. On site is an array of roller coasters and attractions, 28 original food and beverage offerings as well as 25 retail outlets.
The amusement park is wholly owned by the Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, made up of Mr Ilyas Galadari and Mr Mustafa Galadari. In a statement, they said, ‘The creation of IMG Worlds of Adventure is the realization of a shared childhood dream. This landmark launch has turned our aspirations of creating the world’s largest indoor theme park into a reality. This marks a great achievement for everyone at the Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group and we would like to thank everyone who has been part of this epic journey. As the first international mega-themed park to open in the region, IMG Worlds of Adventure will set a new universal standard for a fully immersive theme park experience, further driving tourism whilst enabling the United Arab Emirates to achieve its vision of becoming the leading global leisure and entertainment destination. Today is a key milestone in Dubai’s rich history and we are proud to be a part of it.’
An adult entry ticket to the park costs AED300 (approximately AUD$106) whilst a child ticket costs (approximately AUD$89). Due to soaring outside temperatures reaching 38 degrees Celsius, the IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai recorded 3,000 visitors on its opening day.
