Flying into Sydney on May 4 Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson unveiled the new name of Australia’s second-largest airline, finally uniting its domestic and international operations under the brand name Virgin Australia. The airline has successfully negotiated the renaming of Virgin Blue, V Australia and Pacific Blue whilst also removing the red body paint from its aircraft in favour of white.
This change reflects a more conservative approach to its branding as Virgin attempts to seize a larger share of the lucrative corporate market from Qantas. Brand new Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A330-200 reveal the airline’s new economy and business class cabins that features leather seating, contemporary interior design, new in-flight products and a Luke Mangan-designed gourmet menu with a new frequent flyer rewards program to be announced in upcoming months.
