VILLA TREMEZZO – Italian Lakes

This magnificent historic villa, is situated near Tremezzo on the western shore of Lake Como. Built in the early 1700’s, it was purchased by Duke Gabrio Serbelloni in 1750, whose family continued improvements to the Estate, bringing renowned painters and craftsmen to work on the villa and adding a formal Italian garden. During the Second World War, the Serbelloni family transferred many of their artworks from their palace in Milan to this estate on Lake Como in order to save the many porcelains, paintings, tapestries, and furnishings from destruction. Many of these pieces now form a private, separate museum, on the upper floors of the villa. These are kept alarmed and can be viewed by special request. The property is still owned by heirs of this same prestigious family who have continue to restore the estate, while preserving the unique eighteenth century charm and ambience.

To the rear of the villa, steps lead up to a higher level with gate leading to the swimming pool (13m x 7m) and pool house with shower room and changing room. The impressive pool area has a terrace with a tent providing shade, and ample sun loungers for relaxing outdoors. Bordered by woodland, the property is very private and also benefits from private dock on the lake, suitable for boats or sea planes. There are ferries from Tremezzo to the delightful town Bellagio just across the lake.

The interiors are amazing, with frescoed ceilings and furnished throughout with antique furniture, mirrors, opulent furnishings, chandeliers and paintings. Offering a unique experience, the property is perfect for either a special occasion or for a holiday. Fully staffed with maid service and private chef, meals are served on crested dinnerware with crystal glasses, offering a truly elegant dining experience.
