Moroccan Riads
Traditional ‘riads’ are a style of accommodation unique to Morocco. Once private homes, many have been restored to their former glory and converted into unique boutique hotels. Filled with character and style, riads typically feature an open-air courtyard with fountain, mosaics and traditional furnishings. Each room and suite is individually decorated and varies in size. Normally accessed down a laneway, from the exterior a riad looks like any other Moroccan building, but step inside the grand wooden doors and a whole hidden world awaits you!
Itinerary
La Sultana | Marrakech
A sanctuary in the heart of the medina, this opulent, modern Moroccan styled riad is palatial. Four riads converted into a sophisticated residence of 21 guest rooms, show casing antiques and works of art. Take in the views of the High Atlas Mountains from the rooftop terrace or chill in the hanging gardens by the pool or with a signature treatment in the hammam.
Note: Compulsory New Year’s Eve dinner supplement applies for all stays 31 December. La Sultana is closed 04 – 21 August 08 inclusive.
Riad Farnatchi | Marrakech
Designed in five small riads by a retired award winning British hotelier, this boutique riad of only 8 suites has walls that are more than 400 years old. Egyptian cotton sheets, Bose Ipod docks, WiFi and stunning contemporary interiors make Riad Franatchi a great place to gather a group of friends together in the ancient medina.
