Day 1: Cairns –​ Mount Mulligan

Arrive into Cairns to a warm A&K welcome and transfer by helicopter to your heritage accommodation. Located on an entirely private 28,000-hectare working cattle station and heritage site, Mount Mulligan Lodge offers boutique accommodation in the shadow of majestic Mount Mulligan. Ensuring an intimate escape, the lodge accommodates just 16 guests at any one time and features luxurious and contemporary rooms, a beautifully designed main pavilion for guest meals and relaxation, an infinity pool and sunset bar. Each guest room is also assigned its own electric buggy to explore the expansive property with ease.

Days 2 & 3: Mount Mulligan

Spend the next 2 days at Mount Mulligan Lodge, with curated experiences on offer, highlighting the spirit of North Queensland, immersing you in the spectacular landscapes that surround you, and taking a deep dive into the history of the region.

Discover the captivating landscape with indigenous significance dating back 37,000 years. The expansive property bears the marks of the historic gold and coal rush and in its current operation, as a working cattle station, the pastoral history of Australia.

A range of experiences have been designed to make the most of the rugged outback territory. Some of the experiences that may be provided each day include guided tours of the goldfields including a demonstration of Australia’s oldest operating gold crusher at Tyrconnell, exploration of the historic Mount Mulligan coal mine and abandoned township, and 4WD adventures discovering the history and beauty of the region. You might savour chef-prepared gourmet picnic hampers, enjoy wildlife spotting, indulge in sunset drinks overlooking the escarpment, or be spellbound by the night sky while stargazing. Keen explorers can partake in hikes around the southern face of Mount Mulligan, barramundi fishing in the weir, scenic helicopter flights and the chance to experience the day-to-day operations of a working cattle station.

Day 4: Cairns – Haggerstone Island

Return to Cairns by helicopter before a further scenic flight to Haggerstone Island, up the largely uninhabited mainland covered with virgin rainforest, and over an aquamarine sea dotted with lime green reefs resembling giant lily pads.

Transfer to your tranquil luxury base for the next few days and relax amidst the tropical idyll.

Days 5 & 6: Haggerstone Island

Enjoy two days at leisure on this remote island paradise. Immerse yourself in the underwater landscapes with snorkelling and diving excursions or simply unwind on the beach and drink in the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounds you.

Haggerstone Island
