Thailand is planning to develop several regional airports ahead of the onset of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. According to a Thai News Agency (TNA) report, the country’s Ministry of Transport is planning to build a new airport in the southern province of Yala province, as well as refurbishing the hubs at Mae Sot, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani and Narathiwat.
