Summer is a special time in Africa. It is the time when there is a kaleidoscope of colour with rich landscapes, an explosion of new life with many species giving birth to their young and a myriad bird species to be seen. These mostly exclusive safari areas continue to offer frequent predator sightings as they take advantage of the glut of inexperienced, younger prey. Dramatic summer skies with imposing cumulonimbus clouds and a tapestry of green exploding with seasonal abundance provide ideal photographic opportunities of an endless assortment of subjects!
Booking Conditions/Features:
- Extended validity for travel from 1Nov11 to 15Apr12 (with the exception of 20Dec11 to 6Jan12 and 6 to 9Apr12 inclusive).
- Minimum of TWO camps in one or more countries.
- Minimum of THREE nights at any camp in Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Davison’s Camp in Zimbabwe and Chichele Presidential Lodge in Zambia.
- Minimum of TWO nights in Livingstone at The River Club, Toka Leya or Sussi & Chuma.
- All flying must be booked with Wilderness Safaris, except Kenya and Uganda which is bookable through Sanctuary Lodges.

Botswana
OKAVANGO DELTA
Xigera – explore a combination of islands, waterways and lagoons in the heart of the Okavango Delta by mokoro and boat, nature drives and island walks – including a trip to the famous Chief’s Island.
Seba – situated in riverine forest on a perennial lagoon, this family-friendly camp includes game drives, nature walks and mokoro excursions – a superb mainland and water camp.
Tubu Tree – an intimate experience on Hunda Island in the Okavango Delta, with diverse habitats providing sanctuary to a wide variety of wildlife. JaCaNa – a true water camp that during these months, boasts fantastic game viewing opportunities on the now dry and lush grasslands of Jao Flats. Experience the picturesque floodplains and lush palm islands on game drives, combined with boat and mokoro activities into the permanent lagoons and channels.
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp – a classic tented camp with magnificent views over the floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Guests also have the unique opportunity to interact with three semi-habituated elephants (at an additional cost). What better guide to Africa than an elephant?
Duba Plains – situated close to the Okavango Panhandle, activities here centre on game drives and nature walks on remote islands.
Banoka Bush – this diverse area hosts a wealth of wildlife, and is named in honour of the River San people, or Banoka, the earliest settlers of the Delta. Game drives, night drives and nature walks on this game productive eastern edge of the Okavango Delta are further enhanced with excursions into the Moremi Game Reserve in the Khwai (North Gate) region.
LINYANTI REGION
Dumatau – overlooking a large lagoon, and close to the iconic Savute Channel, this camp and incredible area offers both game drives by day/night and nature walks. The region possesses all the habitat diversity, making it a haven for wildlife.
Selinda – with its large, game-rich floodplains Selinda offers a unique wildlife experience by vehicle and foot. Boating on the Selinda Spillway – a unique waterway linking the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti Marshes – provides a different perspective to this area.
Linyanti Discoverer – an authentic and rustic safari camp which offers day and night game drives in the productive northern sector of the Linyanti Concession. This is an ideal location from which to explore the Savute Channel, the edge of the African Rift and the wildlife-rich Zibadianja Lagoon.
KASANE / CHOBE REGION
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero – after a day of game viewing, finished with a sundowner cruise on the Chobe River, unwind at this luxurious lodge with a pampering session in the full service spa complete with treetop treatment room, relax in the split-level swimming pool or simply soak in the far-reaching views over the river below.
Kenya and Uganda
Sanctuary Olonana – the main areas and tents at this award-winning and eco-friendly camp all overlook a private stretch of the Mara River in Kenya where a pod of hippos lives permanently. In addition to game viewing activities, there is also the opportunity to interact with the local Maasai people.
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp – this atmospheric camp is located deep within Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is home to half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The only luxury camp within the park, this is the ideal base for a gorilla tracking adventure. (Gorilla permits are at additional cost – US$ 500.00 per person – and must be obtained prior to booking accommodation. Further details available on request).
Namibia
SOSSUSVLEI REGION
Kulala Desert – offers the closest access for visiting the unique dunes of Sossusvlei, through our private gate entrance into the Namib Naukluft Park. Each tented “kulala” has a rooftop deck for sleeping out under the stars and viewing the spectacular desert night skies. Obtain a different perspective of the topography by hot air balloon (at additional cost).
Kulala Wilderness – a perfectly positioned camp with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Available activities include visits to Sossusvlei, nature drives in the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve and eco-sensitive quad biking.
DAMARALAND REGION
Desert Rhino – set in a vast private concession, this intimate camp allows for exploration of the unique Damaraland region which is marked for its tranquil, minimalist beauty, surprising wealth of arid-adapted wildlife and the largest free roaming black rhino population in Africa.
Doro Nawas – key features of this area are the petroglyphs – prehistoric rock engravings – and San Bushman paintings at Twyfelfontein (Namibia’s first World Heritage Site) as well as the Damara Living Museum to learn about the Damara culture. Nature drives yield a surprising diversity of game including a chance to track the famed desert-adapted elephant.
ETOSHA REGION
Andersson’s – this camp is located on the private Ongava Game Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park. Activities include game drives into Etosha National Park with its excellent wildlife concentrations, together with nature walks and night drives on Ongava itself. A busy waterhole in front of camp allows for relaxed wildlife viewing from the tent deck or main area.
Zambia
LIVINGSTONE REGION
Toka Leya – set in a private and secluded location in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and close to the Victoria Falls. Tent interiors boast cool wooden flooring, tasteful, uncluttered African décor in earthy hues and climate-control.
The River Club – located on an elevated bank of the Zambezi River with sweeping views upstream, this well-appointed Edwardian-styled lodge offers a refined start or end to any safari.
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma – just over ten kilometres upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls, and built on the banks of the Zambezi, the lodge offers air-conditioned tree houses, connected by wooden walkways, and two private family houses, all with uninterrupted views over the Zambezi River. (Costs for the two Chuma Houses will be based on a minimum of 4 guests).
NB: The River Club, Toka Leya and Sussi & Chuma all include a visit to the Victoria Falls (viewed from the Zambian side) and a sunset cruise in your stay. We recommend adding to your experience from a wide selection of adventure activities that include “The Flight of Angels” helicopter flight, bungee jumping and even white water rafting (at an additional cost). During the November to January period, we would also recommend a Tour of the Falls on the Zimbabwean side (at an additional cost) due to low water levels.
SOUTH LUANGWA REGION
Sanctuary Chichele Presidential Lodge – originally built for Kenneth Kaunda, the first Zambian president, the historic lodge’s unique hilltop position in the South Luangwa affords incredible views over the lush valley below. Perfect for families with interconnecting suites and no age restrictions.
Zimbabwe
HWANGE REGION
Davison’s Camp – is beautifully situated in south-eastern Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s premier wildlife destination and conservation area. As one of the few camps located within park boundaries, Davison’s offers total privacy, while the Linkwasha Concession, in which Davison’s is found, offers a compelling mix of diverse wildlife, ensuring one of the best nature experiences imaginable in Africa.
