    Itinerary

    Day 1. Arrive in Istanbul.
    Arrive in Istanbul and transfer to your hotel, where a hosted welcome desk is in place for your convenience.
    Three Night Stay: Istanbul, Ritz Carlton Hotel.

    Day 2. Istanbul Sightseeing.
    This morning’s tour will feature the Roman aqueduct and hippodrome; the Suleymaniye Mosque; as well as the Galata Tower, then visit the Blue Mosque. Later, maybe visit St.Sophia or explore the Grand Bazaar.

    Day 3. Istanbul.
    Visit the Grand Palace of Topkapi and tour the private chambers of the Sultans, the Harem, the treasury, home to the Topkapi diamond, the holy relics room, Hagia Eirene Church and more.

    Day 4. Istanbul – Nessebur – Black Sea.
    Leave Istanbul bound for the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, During our walking tour of Nessebur you will visit St.Stephan’s and the Basilica on the Beach.

    Day 5. Veliko Turnavo – Rousse – Embark cruise.
    First stop this morning is the ancient capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Turnavo. Tour Tsarevets Hill and see the fortress walls, Royal Palaces and the Patriarchal church. Enjoy a traditional Bulgarian lunch before continuing on to Rousse, where your ship ms Amalegro awaits.

    Day 6. Bucharest Excursion.
    Today enjoy a full day excursion to Bucharest, Romania’s capital. During our city tour see the Arch of Triumph, Athenaeum and Library and visit Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building. Followed by lunch in a typical restaurant, enjoy a free afternoon or visit the Palace of Mogosoaia.

    Day 7. Vidin.
    Enjoy a leisurely day cruising the Danube, arriving late afternoon in Vidin. The Bada Vida fortress sits guard over the Danube at this frontier town.

    Day 8. Cruising – Iron Gates.
    Cruise through one of Europe’s most impressive natural wonders, the Iron Gates, bordering Serbia and Romania.

    Day 9. Belgrade.
    Arrive in Belgrade,the capital of Serbia. During our city tour, see the home of the Patriarch and St.Sava’s, Tito’s memorial, the Town Hall, Federal Parliament Building, as well as Belgrade Fort and visit the mighty Kalemegdan Fortress.

    Day 10. Novi Sad – Vukovar.
    Novi Sad is dominated by the fortress of Petrovaradin. Tour the fortress, then cruise to Vukovar in Croatia. Here you will see the Monastery of St.John Capistrano, the Manourhouse Eltz and Churches St.Philip and St.Roch. Tonight enter the European Union as you arrive in Hungary.

    Day 11. Mohacs – Pecs.
    Today the ship arrives in Mohacs, where you depart for the excursion to Pecs, with its distinct Mediterranean feel. Upon arrival there is a walking tour including the Synagogue, a visit of the former Turkish Mosque and Christian Basilica.

    Day 12. Budapest – City tour or Puszta excursion.
    Arrive in Budapest and enjoy a tour including historic Buda Castle, Matthias Church, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and more. Or you may want to join an excursion to Hungary’s Puszta region, where you visit a typical Gypsy village and will marvel at the equestrian skills of the riders and drivers during the horse show.

    Day 13. Vienna.
    Relax on board as you cruise to Vienna, arriving late this afternoon. Tonight explore the vibrant Austrian capital on your own, or come along for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.

    Day 14. Vienna Sightseeing.
    A guided sightseeing tour includes the lavish Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, majestic Ringstrasse and St Stephen’s Cathedral. Enjoy a free afternoon to stroll along Kärtnerstrasse or sample Vienna’s famous pastries.

    Day 15. Dürnstein – Melk.
    Cruise through the Wachau Valley. Stop in Dürnstein and enjoy a walking tour through medieval cobblestone streets. Continue to Melk and tour the Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest baroque monasteries. An evening wine tasting highlights your visit to the Wachau Valley.

    Day 16. Linz – Passau.
    Today take an optional full-day excursion to Salzburg and the Sound of Music sights, or cruise through Upper Austria to Passau in Germany. During your walking tour, gaze at this fairy-tale city founded more than 2,000 years ago.

    Day 17. Regensburg.
    Afternoon arrival in Regensburg. A guided tour reveals the city’s highlights, including the Old Town Hall, and the Porta Pretoria – gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. Tonight, folklore entertainers will come on board for your delight.

    Day 18. Nuremberg.
    This morning enter the Main-Danube Canal. In the afternoon enjoy a guided tour of Nuremberg. See the 900-year old ramparts that surround the city, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946.

    Day 19. Munich Excursion.
    Travel by train to Munich, the capital of Bavaria and one of Germany’s largest cities. Your Cruise Director will escort your day, offer suggestions of what to do whilst you are there and take you to lunch in the world famous Hofbrauhaus.

    Day 20. Bamberg.
    Arrive in Bamberg and enjoy a walking tour of this medieval gem, with its uniquely intact townscape, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. There is free time before you continue your cruise, now on the Main River.

    Day 21. Würzburg.
    Arrive in Würzburg, surrounded by sloping hills covered with vineyards. During your tour, see the major sights including the Residential Palace. This afternoon explore Würzburg on your own, or take an optional tour to medieval Rothenburg.

    Day 22. Wertheim – Miltenberg.
    Disembark in Wertheim and enjoy free time perhaps browsing the market square and the shops. Then cruise to Miltenberg for a guided walking tour.

    Day 23. Mainz – Heidelberg – Rüdesheim – Koblenz.
    Today it’s your choice to either travel by coach to Heidelberg, where you will visit the red-walled Castle. Then take a walking tour of Heidelberg and enjoy free time for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Frankfurt and rejoin the ship. Or, enjoy a walking tour of Mainz and the Roman ship museum. Then cruise to Rüdesheim and tour the town by mini-train and visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. This afternoon everyone will cruise the most beautiful part of the Rhine River, passing castle after castle and the infamous Lorelei Rock. Arrive in Koblenz after dinner.

    Day 24. Cochem – Zell.
    After breakfast enjoy a guided visit of Reichsburg Castle, situated above Cochem with spectacular views of the River Moselle. This afternoon continue past hilllside vineyards to Zell.

    Day 25. Bernkastel – Trier.
    Arrive in Bernkastel and explore this quaint little town on a walking tour. Then on to Trier, Germany’s oldest city, where a guided tour will introduce you to the city’s ancient Roman past.

    Day 26. Trier (Disembark) – Luxembourg – Paris.
    This morning bid farewell to your cruise ship and head to Luxembourg, for a city tour of the Grand Duchy and some free time. After lunchtime continue on to Paris, France, where you arrive this afternoon. Three Night Stay: Paris, Sofitel Bercy or similar.

    Day 27. Paris Sightseeing.
    Enjoy Paris’ famous sights during our guided tour. Visit Notre Dame Cathedral, see the unique Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, Champs Elysées and much more. The remainder of the day is free.

    Day 28. Paris.
    A full free day to explore the amazing ‘City of Light.’ Perhaps stroll along the boutique-lined boulevards, visit the top of the Eiffel Tower, sip coffee in the buzzing Latin Quarter, or chat with one of the many artists along the banks of the Seine River.
