
AmaWaterways has officially launched its first luxury river cruise on Colombia’s Magdalena River, marking a historic milestone for both the river cruise industry and Colombian tourism. The debut of the AmaMagdalena on April 12, 2025, introduces travellers to a new and immersive way to explore Colombia’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, and picturesque landscapes.
About AmaMagdalena
The AmaMagdalena is an intimate 60-passenger river cruise ship, specially designed to navigate the Magdalena River. It offers two seven-night itineraries: ‘Magic of Colombia’ and ‘Wonders of Colombia,’ sailing between Barranquilla and Cartagena. These voyages provide guests with the opportunity to experience numerous cultural highlights, including the Barranquilla Carnival, guided heritage tours, jazz performances in UNESCO-designated Mompox, and explorations of Palenque, the first free town in the Americas.

Onboard Experience

AmaMagdalena features a rejuvenating pool on the Sun Deck, a spacious fitness room, a Main Restaurant serving exquisite Latin American cuisine and Western favorites, and an intimate al fresco specialty dining experience. Each stateroom is equipped with both a French balcony and an outside balcony, allowing guests to wake up to a new view each day in one of Colombia’s fascinating destinations.
