The Singapore Tourism Board is delighted to announce that Singapore has come out on top of Lonely Planet’s 2015 Best in Travel Top 10 Countries list and they are the first Southeast Asian country to be given this accolade.
Lonely Planet cites Singapore’s diverse mix of heritage buildings, shopping malls, hawker centres, green spaces and other tourism highlights as having brought the country to new heights.
Singapore Tourism Board (STB), area director for Oceania, Sharon Lam has said that is an honor to be recognized by Lonely Planet as their best city in the world.
“We are humbled by this tremendous result and we’re honoured by the recognition of Singapore’s efforts not just in tourism, but also in heritage, culture, greenery, dining, arts and shopping, to name just a few,” Ms Lam said.
Singapore’s many different precincts allow visitors to immerse in cultural diversity and experience the best that the city has to offer.
Lonely Planet, Asia Pacific sales and marketing director, Mr Chris Zeiher has said that Singapore is Full of surprises, and is deserving of the number one spot.
“Lonely Planet is pleased to announce that Singapore has topped the list as the #1 country to visit in our much-anticipated Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2015,” Mr Zeiher said.
This win is a welcome addition to a small but growing list of accolades for Singapore’s leisure experiences, recently taking out the top amusement park in Asia for 2014 award, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens was recognised as the top park in Asia.
