Itinerary

Day 1 Thu. Arrive in Prague.
Arrive in Prague where the balance of the day is free to start exploring this beautiful city.
Three Night Stay: Prague, Renaissance Hotel.

Day 2 Fri. Prague.
This morning’s sightseeing tour reveals why Prague is considered one of Europe’s most attractive cities. Visit the 1,000-year-old Hradcany Castle courtyard, St Vitus and Golden Lane, then walk through the Jewish quarter to the Old Market Square. In the afternoon why not join an optional excursion to Terezin, the infamous Nazi WWII labour camp, now a memorial to those who perished. Alternatively, enjoy free time to mix with the locals, shop for souvenirs or enjoy one of the charming cafes or restaurants.

Day 3 Sat. Prague.
A relaxing free day to stroll through a museum, wander along the banks of the Vltava River, relax at an outdoor restaurant or shop for local handicrafts and art work. Another consideration is to travel further afield and take the optional tour to Konopiste, palace and former home of the Emperors.

Day 4 Sun. Prague – Plzen – Nuremberg.
Depart Prague after breakfast and drive through the pastoral countryside to Nuremberg. On the way, we stop in the famous beer-brewing town Plzen for a brewery tour.In Nuremberg, board your elegant ship ms Amalegro. Tonight gather on board for a Gala Welcome Dinner. The ship will overnight in Nuremberg.

Day 5 Mon. Nuremberg – Continental Divide.
Enjoy a tour of Nuremberg with its Gothic churches and elegant patrician houses. See the 900-year-old ramparts that surround the city, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace. At lunchtime, continue to transit the Main-Danube Canal as you arrive at the highest point of your cruise – 435 metres above sea level – before descending through stair-step locks.

Day 6 Tue. Regensburg.
This morning takes you through the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal. Arrive in Regensburg, where a tour will show you the city’s highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria – gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. This evening enjoy Bavarian folklore music entertainment on board.

Day 7 Wed. Passau – Linz.
After breakfast, arrive in Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. During your walking tour, gaze at this fairy-tale city founded more than 2,000 years ago. Or, take an optional full day tour to Salzburg and its most popular Sound of Music sights. Those staying on board cruise from Passau into Austria and on to Linz. After dinner, take a walk through this delightful town.

Day 8 Thu. Melk – Vienna.
Reach the Wachau Valley early this morning. A tour takes you to Melk’s magnificent Benedictine Abbey. At lunchtime, continue towards Vienna, the ‘City of Music’. Tonight explore the vibrant Austrian capital on your own, or come along for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.

Day 9 Fri. Vienna Sightseeing.
A tour of Vienna includes Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, Ringstrasse, and awe-inspiring St Stephen’s Cathedral. Enjoy a free afternoon to stroll along the main shopping street, Kärntnerstrasse, or sample some of Vienna’s famous pastries. Later this afternoon continue cruising along the Danube towards Hungary and Budapest.

Day 10 Sat. Budapest.
The morning is free for shopping or sightseeing. In the afternoon, your city tour includes historic Buda Castle, where you have a splendid view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest spread over both banks of the river. Your tour also features the distinctive Fisherman’s Bastion, the marvellous Royal Palace, St Stephen’s Basilica and more. Your afternoon is free. Tonight gather on board for a Gala Farewell Dinner with Gypsy violinists.

Day 11 Sun. Budapest – Disembark cruise – Heviz – Zagreb.
Your fascinating cruise comes to an end after breakfast this morning. Your motorcoach awaits you at the pier for your tour through Slovenia. Today travel from Budapest through the Hungarian Puszta region to Heviz, a famous spa town. After an orientation tour, enjoy free time for lunch, then continue to Zagreb, capital of Croatia. Tonight enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 12 Mon. Zagreb Sightseeing – Ljubljana.
This morning enjoy a city tour of Zagreb, including a visit to the Croatian National Theatre and Opera House. Walk through the Stone Gate and visit its little Chapel of our Lady of the Stone Gate. In the afternoon, we cross into Slovenia on our way to Ljubljana.
Three Night Stay: Ljubljana, Hotel Grand Union Executive.

Day 13 Tue. Ljubljana Sightseeing.
After breakfast this morning, enjoy a guided tour of the most important sights of the Slovenian capital. See the Parliament Building, visit the National Museum of Contemporary History and view the Bishop’s Palace and Ljubljana Castle. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore on your own.

Day 14 Wed. Bled & Bohinjska Bistrica Excursion.
Our full day excursion starts with a visit to the prominent alpine resort town of Bled, located on the shores of Lake Bled. Visit Bled Castle which stands on a rock high above the lake, then take a boat ride to the lake’s tiny island and visit lovely St Maria’s church. Continue to Bohinjska Bistrica and travel through the small picturesque villages and visit Oplen House, a museum of domestic culture. On the way back to Ljubljana visit the Pakljuka alpine plateau, famous for its fir tree forests.

Day 15 Thu. Postojna – Lipica – Piran – Portoroz.
Depart Ljubljana this morning and travel to Postojna, where we visit the world-famous cave. The cave has a constant temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, so you may wish to take a light jacket. A special cave train, accompanied by experienced guides takes you on a journey through this cavernous wonderland of underground halls and galleries with rich stalactite ornamentation of various forms. After free time for lunch, drive the short distance to Lipica, home to the famous white Lipizzan horses, which are born black, but turn white with age. Visit a stud farm and enjoy a guided tour, then continue to the charming port town of Piran and take a brief orientation tour by foot. A short transfer brings us to our hotel in Portoroz, the ‘Port of Roses’ for dinner and overnight.

Day 16 Fri. Medana – Venice.
Today travel to the wine-growing town of Medana where we visit the Belica Tourist Farm for lunch and wine tasting. In the afternoon continue to Venice and transfer by private boat to your hotel on Venice Island, located right on the Grand Canal.

Day 17 Sat. Venice Sightseeing.
This morning discover the treasures of Venice on a guided walking tour. See the famous Bridge of Sighs, then continue to St Mark’s Square and the St Mark’s Basilica. Visit a glass blowing factory and enjoy a display of glass blowing. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure before our farewell dinner tonight.

Day 18 Sun. Venice – Fly home.
Your fascinating tour comes to an end today as you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
