Castaway Island, a four star resort in the Mamanuca group of more than 300 Fiji islands, is located due west of Nadi international airport. Castaway provides a unique South Pacific island experience – a great way to relax, unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures: comfortable accommodations, great food and a host of day and night time activities from which to choose. The moment you come ashore you sense the difference, for Castaway is not just an island – it is people – the warmest, friendliest bunch of Fijians you are ever likely to meet.

Castaway is a place for romantic couples of all ages with or without children. We’ve got something for everyone.
Fiji’s most popular island resort has guests returning year after year to experience the magic that is "Castaway". The island’s 174 acres are covered with lush tropical vegetation, surrounded by white sand beaches and encircled by vibrant coral reefs. Our spacious yet secluded bures and creative island cuisine along with the warmth and genuine hospitality of the Castaway family of staff combine to provide a unique holiday experience. Castaway is the heart and soul of the Fiji Islands.

Accommodation & Bures

Castaway offers sixty six spacious, traditionally thatched Fijian style bures (bungalows) with a choice of beach front, ocean view or island location. All bures feature one king size bed and most include two additional single beds in their configuration, with those bures comfortably sleeping up to four persons.

In the interests of maintaining the quality of the Castaway Island experience, our policy is set to limit a maximum of four persons per bure (or up to ten persons in our one family beach bure).

All bures have a large ensuite bathroom including separate shower, toilet and vanity area complete with hairdryer and toiletries with a Fijian flair.

Each traditionally thatched bure features a high vaulted "tapa" lined ceiling with overhead fans. In most bures, sleeping and living quarters are separate with the emphasis being on privacy and comfort. All bures feature quality island style furnishings, fabrics and linen. Additionally a refrigerator together with tea and coffee making facilities are provided.

Dining & Restaurants:

Your day starts with a Castaway buffet breakfast including Fiji’s tropical fruits and juices, cereals, a selection of hot dishes and accompaniments including bacon, sausages, eggs any style, fresh baked croissants, hotcakes and Danish pastries, tea selection and fresh brewed coffee. Our all day casual dining menu features light snacks and meals throughout the day to early evening.

At night we dine alfresco under a canopy of Castaway stars overlooking the clear waters of the Pacific. Our a la carte menu features the freshest Fijian seafood and crustaceans, with prime grade beef, poultry and local Fijian specialties together with fresh vegetables, crisp salads and crusty home baked breads – complemented by a hand selected wine list. Additionally our gourmet wood fired pizzas available in the Sundowner Bar are not to be missed.

Fiji Weddings & Honeymoons at Castaway:

Castaway is the perfect place to celebrate or reaffirm your marriage vows. Lovers of all ages choose to wed in a traditional and romantic South Pacific island style, while others renew their vows or honeymoon Castaway style.

If you are planning a Fiji wedding, there are several details you should know in advance to help you plan that special day.

Marriage under Fijian law involves two parts:

The first part is the registration of the intent to marry with the Nadi Registry office. We prefer to organize an appointment for the bride and groom on the first or second day of arrival in Fiji, which will allow for the completion of the Fijian Registry requirements before coming to the island for the wedding ceremony. The Nadi Registry office is open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, and the appointment will take 15-30 minutes.

It is important to note both bride and groom will need to present an original or certified copy of their respective birth certificates as well as their passports. If either were previously married, a copy of the divorce papers or death certificate of the former spouse must also be presented. If married within the last five years, a Certificate of Single Status may be required and you are advised to check with the island directly well prior to your intended arrival date in this regard.

The second part is a religious ceremony to be held on Castaway. Usually the ceremony takes place at sunset on our jetty adjacent to the dining terrace. The minister will be available prior to the wedding to discuss the wording to be used in the ceremony. The services included in the cost are as follows:

  • Private car transfers and escort to the Registry office
  • Donation given to the Minister
  • Use of traditional Fijian wedding attire for the bride, groom and two witnesses
  • Wedding decorations, salusalu (lei), flowers, bouquet and boutonniere
  • Boat transfers for the Minister to and from the village
  • Music by the Castaway Islanders and the Castaway Island Family choir
  • Castaway Island video memento of the wedding ceremony
  • Champagne cruise around the Island, a Castaway tradition
  • Candlelit a la carte dinner including a wedding cake for the bride and groom
